Had a wonderful nights sleep, arose at 7.15am and left at 8.00am. Cycled on my own out off Silsbee, then stopped at a Walmart to buy some toiletries. Met up with some of the other guys but they were travelling so just let them go. As it was a short day I stopped at a restaurant and treated myself to a 'pancake with egg over easy'. A lot of dogs about today and I was chased at least 3 times, they always seem to be in two's. There is a saying in this part of the world ' you can drink my whisky, steal my wife, but don't mess with my dog' and I believe it!! We left beautiful Texas after a hard 18 days and are now in Louisiana. Fortunately, no rain but a headwind - how I long for the tailwinds of Arizona. We are camping at the Merryville Historical Museum grounds, and I have pitched my tent up on their pavilion - just in case it rains. The committee very kindly prepared sandwiches and soft drinks for our arrival and are providing our meal tonight. We had chicken and rice, banana/cream dessert, and iced tea. Delicious. Tomorrow they will be here at 7.30am to serve us breakfast. They don't charge anything but we leave a donation for their museum. So generous, southern hospitality again. I only counted 14 churches today but then again it was a shorter ride. Must be a lot of sinners in this part of the world ?? Cooking tomorrow so will need to be up sharp....still loving the life....
