With just a fornight to go I am beginning to panic. All the 101 things that I put off, have to be dealt with, NOW. Still, after this Sunday training will be winding down, so will have more time. Training is good, over 200 miles a week and with the strong winds probably equates to more. With the new Brooks saddle I have discovered that I don't sit square on. One side of the leather saddle has a nice deep dimple, which I am quite proud of, but the other side, not so. The 'other side' still gives me trouble but hopefully it will soften up soon. I have now completed over 700 miles on it but will persevere.
Took the bike for final check at local bike shop and 'disaster darling' as the 'head set' is loose. The bike is made by 'Specialized' so the new part has to come from Specialized. Trying at the moment to locate a UK dealer and get the part, then fitted, before I pack bike in 9 days time. The bottom line is, if I don't locate a part and have to go with old part, remember 3200 miles, it SHOULD be ok. The steering column could become unpredictable but the bike won't fall apart. Could do without this!!! The bike has taken a pounding with the Arran roads and weather.
